Max Burt (Head Coach)
Max Burt is the founder and Head Instructor at Muncie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Max first discovered Brazilian Jiu Jitsu when he was attending Ball State University where he was pursuing a bachelors of science in mathematics education. Max immediately fell in love with Jiu Jitsu and began training at every opportunity he had to do so. This was often made difficult due to the lack of Jiu Jitsu schools in Indiana at the time, and Max would often drive an hour and a half for the chance to train. After a couple of years of teaching high school mathematics Max decided that he would move from Muncie to Indianapolis to devote more time to studying Jiu Jitsu with the goal of one day opening his own school. Max became a coach at the Indiana Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy and would eventually run a second location for that school. In 2011, after spending approximately three years as an instructor for the Indiana Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy, Max made the decision to return to his home town of Muncie and open Muncie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In November of 2013, Max received his Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Tiago "Unstopable" Alves.
As well as holding a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Max also holds a Brown Belt (ikkyu) in Judo and is currently pursuing his Black belt in the art. Max strives to continue learning more about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and to improve upon his instructional abilities.
